Automatic Transmission Basic Check List
Always complete all items on the Transmission Basic Check List (providing the fault is not an obvious one) before removing the automatic transmission for replacement.
Checklist
- Check for correct oil level
- Check oil condition (does oil smell burned or is it discoloured)
- Check battery voltage
- Check all electrical connections & vac hoses where applicable
- Check for any warning lights
- Check all fault codes & delete. If any exist, re road test
- Is engine operating correctly? (no misfiring or acceleration flat spots) This can effect automatic transmission performance
